Question:
When is the best time to view the solar eclipse from El Paso
Replies:
The January issue of Astronomy magazine (p. 64) provides the following:
For El Paso, TX, the partial phase of the May 10 annular eclipse begins at 8:44
am local daylight time and ends at 11:52 am local daylight time. Annularity
lasts for 5 min 40 sec, and I would guess it is centered within the 8:44-11:52 t ime period. Please
remember that viewing a solar eclipse directly can be VERY dangerous! There are
well-tested safe and effective techniques for viewing solar eclipses; read about
them in such places as Astronomy and Sky & Telescope magazines. No doubt both of these
magazines will review this topic as eclipse time nears.
