Browning at Cut (Latex)

How can we prevent browning of a fruit tissue that
produces so much latex as in the case of the banana fruit stalk (the
pedicel)? I do not mean browning of the fruit pulp but browning of the
cut end of the pedicel where much latex oozes out. Thank you.
