Question:
What is the difference between Phylogenetic classification
of organisms compared to the cladistics classfication ?
Replies:
Phylogenetic...is the probable evolutionary relationship among organisms.
Phylogenetics can be broken into 3 parts...phenetics (based on physical
appearance) cladistics (which divide organisms based on when they diverged
in evolution) and classical taxonomy which is a combination of cladistics
and phenetics...there is presently a heavier tendency to use molecular
biology to determine the evolutionary association over physical appearances.
