What should one do while backpacking and a thounderstorm (lightning) threatens...then hits the area?

Replies:
IMMEDIATELY squat down, with feet close together making a kind of ball-shaped body. Try to avoid trees and poles, as if they are hit, you can easily be hurt by the resulting shrapnel.
