Question:
I am trying to find out any info on hydrogen power as a possible
Replies:
Hydrogen is already used in some rechargeable batteries (the Nickel-
Metal Hydride) and has long been proposed as a natural fuel to replace fossil
fuels when we run out of them. Hydrogen and Oxygen can be combined
in fuel cells, often used in the space program, and hydrogen and oxygen
are the fuels used by the main engine of the space shuttle. The problem
of using hydrogen as a fuel is that it has to either be liquefied
(as is done on the space shuttle) or absorbed into some kind of metal
(as in the NiMH batteries) so that it does not occupy too much space 0
hydrogen would like to be a gas at normal atmospheric pressure and
temperature, of course.
