What are mu-mesons and what do they do?


Replies:
Mu-mesons are heavy electrons with a half-life of about 1 microseconds. They do not "do" much of anything, which is part of their charm. They can be used to investigate the structure of materials.

Does anybody still call them mu-mesons? I thought they were muons...
