Question:
I haven't heard anything lately about the WIPP program. Has that gotten bogged down in red tape? Is there any working faculty for indefinite storage of high level radioactive waste?

Replies:
As far as I am aware, WIPP is still up and running. It should have received its second shipment of transuranic waste about a week ago.

The official web site for WIPP is http://www.wipp.carlsbad.nm.us/. This site contains a lot of information, including official WIPP press releases.
