Raccoon Bite on Dog

name Cathie R.
status other
age 50s

Question - I have read what was previously posted on Coon Hound
Paralysis.. but the answer left me wanting to know any possible
treatment. Is there an antibiotic (such as SMZ 960) for my 90 pound
Newfoundland/Golden cross? He was bit on the nose by a coon about 5 days
ago, and just started showing signs today of hind end stiffness. This is
a verbal animal.. and this evening when I arrived home.. he did not even
come barking at me as he usually does. He ate his dinner (canned food
with gravy).. but seems reluctant to open his mouth very wide. He is
only 7 years old.. and in very good health otherwise.

Before anything else... see your vet. And see him/her NOW.
