Question:
Can rabies be transmitted by animal saliva on or in produce, such as from a garden?
Replies:
The rabies virus is transmitted only by direct contact - in order to contract the virus, it must travel from the saliva of the donor directly onto a nerve of the recipient. The virus would not survive any other form of transmission.
