Latin Breed Names

Question:
Do all domestic breeds have the same Latin names? I am
trying to compile a domestic species list for formulation of a
biodiversity strategy and action plan programme for Sikkim, India. My
list has all the species (cattle, yak, dzo (cross between cow and yak),
Tibetan type sheep, Pashmina and lowland goats, poultry, horse, Tibetan
pony, donkey, mulerabbits, carp, goldfish, silkworm, etc. No one here
seems to know them all. Can you help or point me in the right
direction? Thanks.
Replies:
By definition, animals that regularly interbreed are of the same species.

No, domesticated breeds of different species have their own "scientific names"
and these are specific for each species. Most domestic breeds are listed in
encyclopedias or libraries.
