Probably not much. They do eat "seeds and shoots of sedge, grass, and aquatic
vegetation, grain, acorns; insects, aquatic invertebrates." The Birder's Handbook,
Ehrlich, Dobkin & Wheye. I imagine they will eat some algae while getting other
aquatic vegetation, but it would not be preferred.
