Question:
When bears hibernate, I understand they have a method of
keeping from eliminating wastes. How is this done?
Replies:
Mary,
Before a bear hibernates, they eat a whole lot. This includes a bunch of
dirt, sticks, leaves etc. When dirt and sticks pass through the bear's
system, it constipates them so that they do not eliminate during
hibernation. I can't imagine that it is a very pleasant process!
